Indian Seafood Shines: MPEDA Pavilion a Dynamic Hub at SENA Boston 2025

Successful showcase highlights India’s diverse offerings, fostering global connections and robust trade discussions at North America’s premier seafood exposition.

Boston, USA | March 19, 2025 – The Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) proudly marked a successful participation at the Seafood Expo North America (SENA) 2025, which unfolded from March 16-18 at the prestigious Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. The MPEDA Pavilion, strategically located at stall no. 2833, quickly became a vibrant epicenter of activity, drawing significant attention from international buyers, industry leaders, and seafood connoisseurs throughout the three-day event.

A Grand Inauguration Sets the Tone

The proceedings commenced with the formal inauguration of the MPEDA Pavilion on March 16, 2025, by Shri Praveen Kumar IES, Director EP(MP), Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. Following the ribbon-cutting, Shri Kumar personally visited the MPEDA stall and engaged with the 16 co-exhibiting Indian exporters, setting a collaborative and encouraging tone for the expo.

From the outset, the MPEDA Pavilion was a “buzzing hub of business discussions, inquiries, and networking.” It presented an “incredible array of irresistible seafood,” truly a “basket of seafood delights,” showcasing the breadth of India’s offerings – from frozen cultured shrimp to innovative ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat varieties.

High-Profile Engagements and Sustained Buyer Interest

The momentum built impressively into the second day. On March 17, 2025, the MPEDA booth was honored by a distinguished visit from His Excellency Amb. Binaya S. Pradhan, IFS, Consul General at the Consulate General of India in New York. Amb. Pradhan received a comprehensive briefing on the diverse products on display and meticulously toured the Indian exporters’ stalls. He interacted keenly with the exporters, accompanied by Shri Mahesh G., Deputy Director, MPEDA, and Shri R. Prasadnaik, Assistant Director, MPEDA.

Throughout the day, it was evident that “Indian Seafood” was the “talk of the show.” The MPEDA stall, alongside those of its valued co-exhibitors, remained “packed with buyers and entrepreneurs from across the world,” with “business talks on high pace.” Attendees recognized the pavilion as a “goldmine of safe, healthy, and sustainable Indian seafood,” attracting retailers, hoteliers, and various seafood mongers eager to explore opportunities.

A Resounding Finale: Splendid Vibes and Strong Partnerships

Even as SENA 2025 approached its conclusion on March 18, “there was no pause for the trade talks in the MPEDA pavilion.” The stalls of MPEDA and its co-exhibitors continued to be “teeming with seafood enthusiasts and traders.”

Shri Praveen Kumar IES, alongside dedicated MPEDA officials and key representatives from the co-exhibiting companies, remained actively engaged, guiding visitors through the extensive “seafood goodies” India proudly offers to the global market. The atmosphere was charged with “splendid vibes all over the MPEDA pavilion,” reflecting a highly successful event characterized by “happy buyers, satisfied palates, and proud exporters.”

MPEDA’s impactful presence at SENA 2025 has once again reinforced India’s preeminent position in the global seafood industry, effectively showcasing the nation’s unwavering commitment to quality, sustainability, and product innovation. The exposition served as an invaluable platform for Indian exporters to strengthen existing global partnerships, forge new connections, and prominently display the best of Indian seafood to an international audience.
