A total of 93110 ha area is under tiger shrimp culture in 9 maritime states producing 123303 MT with an average production of 1.32 MT/ha/year. The state of Gujarat records maximum productivity of 3.03 MT/ha/year followed by Tamil Nadu and Orissa with productivity of 2.74 and 2.25 respectively.
